Kim Corkum founded The Allegro School of Music in Stoneham, MA, in October, 2005. In addition to running the business, she teaches piano at the school.
Kim has been teaching piano privately for more than ten years. For many years, she taught at University Music in Lowell. More recently, she has been providing private instruction to students in Tyngsboro, Melrose and Malden. She is very excited to be able to consolidate her piano teaching into a single location.
Kim began her musical studies at the age of four and continued her studies under Juanita Tsu at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. She holds a B.M. in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and an M.Ed. Lesley University.
She is a full-time teacher in the Melrose school system, where she teaches music and directs the middle-school chorus. She has been certified by the Massachusetts Department of Education to teach vocal and instrumental music for all levels, pre-K–12.
Kim is also an active performer. She accompanies musical theater productions in the area. This past summer she toured Chile for ten days as the accompanist for a youth choir sponsored by the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ.
